  • Using PDF Documents For Mailing

Rick wrote a great article on how PDF documents are used in the mailing industry. PDF proof generation has definitely been a popular feature with mailers. I think we will see more call for it and for full PDF rip. Not many inkjet address printers are powerful enough to run a full PDF rip at inkjet printing speeds. Buskro inkjet systems do have this option, though. Visit our website or call me for more details: 800-398-5786.

  • PURLs and QR Codes

We just recently sent a similar email to our customers, but I figured I would talk about it here as well. A personalized URL (PURL) is a web page or even an entire microsite that is completely personalized with the customer's name and other personal information. A great way to deliver PURLs is to print them on direct mail pieces with your addressing printer. If your inkjet is capable, you can even print a QR code with the PURL information. When the recipients scan the codes with a smartphone...

  • QR Code Saves Mailers 3% on Postage

During the months of July and August, 2011, the USPS has approved a 3% discount to mailers who use a QR barcode (Quick Response Barcode) on approved mailing pieces. A QR code is a 2 dimensional barcode that is readable by most, modern smartphones. Many companies utilize QR codes to prompt customers to take immediate action; such as to visit a website, make a purchase, download...

  • Buskro Equipment Service and Support

As with all industrial equipment, proper maintenance and service is important to keep bulk mailing equipment running at full production potential. Rick Krieger wrote an interesting article that discusses Buskro service and support.

Whether or not a company has an internal maintenance department, getting service support and parts from a reputable company, such as Addresser Based Systems, for Buskro and all production equipment is important.

  • Dry Quicker on Glossy and Coated Stocks

In the past, printing addresses on aqueous, varnished, and other press-applied coatings was only possible with an expensive "continuous flow" inkjet system. And while these systems were reliable, they were expensive to maintain and required a high skill level for operation. Over the last 10 years, Ink Cartridge technology has evolved to the point where they can print on many of these coatings, BUT the cost of the ink is quite high. And if your mailing jobs are in the 10's of thousands or 100's of thousands, the...
